Organochlorine pesticide residues in goat milk from Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico

Abstract
THE ORGANOCHLORINE PESTICIDE (OP) LEVELS AND THEIR METABOLITES IN 40 GOAT RAW MILK SAMPLES WERE QUANTIFIED BY GAS-LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY WITH ELECTRON CAPTURE DETECTOR (ECD NI63). MILK SAMPLES WERE COLLECTED IN THE EXPERIMENTAL AREA OF THE QUERETARO AUTONOMUS UNIVERSITY DURING SPRING 2003. ALL THE TESTED SAMPLES CONTAINED AT LEAST ONE OF THE OP OR THEIR METABOLITES STUDIED. THE UPPER FREQUENCIES FOUND WERE FOR HEPTACHLOR AND ITS EPOXIDE, ENDOSULFAN I AND -HCH WITH 95.4%, 93.2%, 70.5% AND 47.7%, RESPECTIVELY; AND THE LOWER FREQUENCIES FOUND WERE FOR P,P'-DDD, DIELDRIN, ENDRIN, ENDOSULFAN II AND ENDOSULFAN SULFATE WITH 13.6%, 13.6%, 13.6%, 11.4% AND 2.3%, RESPECTIVELY. THE HIGHER LEVELS FOUND WERE ENDRIN ALDEHIDE (48.20 NG/G), ""-HCH (37.75 NG/G), -HCH (35.98 NG/G) AND P,P'-DDD (31.77 NG/G). THE OP CONTENTS PER CHEMICAL FAMILY WERE £ (', , "", "")-HCH: 114.74 NG/G, £ (P,P'-DDT, P,P'-DDD, P,P'-DDE): 66.14 NG/G, £ (CICLODIENICS): 128.90 NG/G AND £ (ENDOSULFANS): 52.8 NG/G. SUM OF HEPTACHLOR AND HEPTACHLOR EPOXIDE (35.65 NG/G) OBTAINED WAS A FOURTH OF THE MAXIMUM RESIDUE LIMIT (MRL) FOR COW MILK (150 NG/G).
