Determination of knowledge levels and attitudes of clinician veterinarians working in Thrace region towards antibiotic use

La resistencia a los antimicrobianos (RAM) se ha convertido en un problema mundial como consecuencia del uso generalizado de antimicrobianos en medicina humana y veterinaria. La RAM afecta a los sistemas sanitarios al provocar enfermedades prolongadas y graves, elevadas tasas de mortalidad y fracasos terapéuticos causados por microorganismos resistentes. Dado que los antibióticos son la clase de fármacos más utilizada en medicina veterinaria, los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los veterinarios en relación con el uso de antibióticos revisten gran importancia en la lucha contra la RAM. En este estudio transversal, se administró un cuestionario en línea de 20 preguntas a veterinarios clínicos, miembros de la Cámara de Veterinarios de Trakya, y 60 participantes respondieron al cuestionario. En la encuesta actual, el 98% de los veterinarios están de acuerdo en que la RAM es un importante problema de salud pública y destacan que centrarse en el uso racional de antibióticos en medicina veterinaria es un área crítica para frenar el desarrollo de la RAM. Sólo el 10% de los encuestados declaró que tiene en cuenta las peticiones de antibióticos de los propietarios de los pacientes, el 68,3% declaró que rara vez utiliza fármacos no indicados en la etiqueta y el 16,7% declaró que los utiliza a menudo. Sólo el 16,6% de los encuestados afirmó realizar antibiogramas de forma rutinaria. El 41,7% de los veterinarios declaró haber recibido formación sobre el Uso Racional de Antibióticos, y cuando se les preguntó qué tipo de formación les gustaría recibir, el 56,7% declaró que prefería la formación online y el 35% declaró que prefería la formación presencial. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que los veterinarios tienen un papel importante en la lucha contra la resistencia a los antimicrobianos y que se necesita más concienciación y educación en este campo.
